Bridgeport, CT – July 12, 2004 – The Bridgeport Bluefish tied the Long Island Ducks, 3-3, in front of 1,794 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Jose Amado hit a three run homerun over the left field wall to put the Bluefish ahead 3-0 early in the bottom of the first inning. Amado drove in both Gustavo Escobar, who had reached on a mishandled hit to Ducks shortstop Kevin Baez, and Keith Lu’uloa, who survived a full count with eight consecutive foul balls to eventually be walked by Ducks starter, Bill Pulsipher.
The Ducks scored two runs in the top of the third when Justin Davies singled to score Kevin Baez who led off with a double, and Kimera Bartee scored on a single by Doug Jennings, to make the score 3-2. Long Island tied the game in the top of the eighth inning when Cole Liniak hit a solo homerun over the left field wall.
The game was called after a one hour and thirty-six minute rain delay. The decision was made by Joe Klein, Executive Director of the Atlantic League to play a new nine-inning game in its entirety on Monday August 9 at 7:05 p.m. at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Bluefish season ticket and mini-plan holders will receive complementary tickets for the “One Game For The Championship”.
The Bluefish will take the next three days off for the Atlantic League All- Star Game as seven Bluefish will travel to Camden to represent the North Division. Tickets for the All-Star Game can be purchased by visiting the Bluefish online.
