BLUEFISH CARRIED BY AGOSTO HOLD OFF ROAD WARRIORS, 4-2

Bridgeport, CT – August 5, 2004 – The Bridgeport Bluefish held off the Pennsylvania Road Warriors with help from starting pitcher, Stevenson Agosto, 4-2, in front of 2,302 fans. Agosto tied the all-time Bluefish record for strikeouts in a game with 12, originally set by Brad Cornett on August 10 of last year against the Camden Riversharks at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. The Bluefish broke the scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth as Jose Amado hit a two run homerun to score Ben Candelaria who reached base on a fielder’s choice. Oreste Marrero followed with a double and scored on an RBI single by Will Pennyfeather. Keith Lu’uloa doubled to score Pennyfeather and put the Bluefish up 4-0. A double by Melvin Falu in the top of the eighth inning broke the no hitter for Pennsylvania to score both Orlando Cruz and Henry Encarnacion to make the score 4-2, Bluefish. Bluefish starter Stevenson Agosto went eight innings while allowing two runs on a single hit while striking out twelve and walking four. Agosto tied the all-time Bluefish record for strikeouts in a game with 12, originally set by Brad Cornett on August 10 of last year against the Camden Riversharks at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Reliever Ryan Schurman came in to hold the Road Warriors to two runs on the night. Bridgeport will start up a three game series against the Somerset Patriots on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. start at Harbor Yard, and fireworks following the game.
